DE

EN

The performance explores the meaning of home and identity from a binational perspective through movement and sound. Inspired by cultural theorist Anne Anlin Cheng’s analyses of clothing as symbols of a stigmatized, exoticizing gaze, the project translates the interplay between two cultural contexts and the search for wholeness and authenticity. The bridge symbolizes the active process of connecting and constructing, while the island represents the space beyond clear cultural boundaries that still conveys a sense of ease.
