On a journey through Mitaboni (Kenya) in the fall of 2022, the artist visited his late grandmother, “Mama”. He spent time in a place that felt both distant and close – a place he still yearns to call home, seeking belonging. On a journey filled with a new understanding of life and death through the eyes of his cousin Nadia, his mom, and “Mama”, the camera became a bystander, helping him appreciate an often forgotten part of his family. Hey Mama is a love letter for an end and a new beginning.
