Ohworode ist eine Einladung, in die vielschichtige Geschichte einer royalen Familie einzutauchen und verborgene Narrative neu zu entdecken. Im Zentrum stehen Archivfotografien von König Richard Ogbon, der von 1988 bis 2023 als zwölfter Ohworode das nigerianische Königreich Olomu prägte. Leila Ruru Ogbon verwandelt das historische Archivmaterial ihres Grossvaters mit experimentellen Fototechniken und Textildrucken und greift damit Fragen nach Identität, Zugehörigkeit und Erinnerung auf.

Ohworode invites to explore a complex history of a royal family and rediscovers hidden narratives. The project centers on archival photographs of King Richard Ogbon, who shaped the Nigerian kingdom of Olomu as the twelfth Ohworode from 1988 to 2023. Leila Ruru Ogbon transforms this historical archival material of her grandfather using experimental photographic techniques and textile prints, engaging with questions of identity, belonging, and memory.
